Tiko Cickishvili – Master of Jurisprudence

“While studying at school, our director often organized imitative trials. I took part in all these processes. In general, I was a very active student, I was the head of the students’ self-governing office and a member of the board of trustees. When I finished school, I began thinking what my strong side was as I was making my professional choice. It seemed that I liked making interesting speeches very much, so, I decided to take my exams for Jurisprudence, where it is relevant to have speaking skills with other different skills and abilities.

I worked at “International transparency Georgia” while studying at ATSU in terms of monitoring the trials. I had a chance to have active correspondence to the trials. When I was on the second year of my Master’s studies, there was a vacancy in civil court as a chancellery specialist, so I started to work there. In two months I moved to a position of the court secretary. Since 2018 I have been working as an assistant of the judge in Kutaisi Civil Court.

I tried to acquire my profession by learning theoretical and practical knowledge. A student must look for the ways to improve himself/herself. One of the important attempts to gain experience for me relates to my job at juridical clinic, where people shared us valuable information and practice, and we made trainings on the subject of law for other students and school pupils.

I took part in many contests in the period of studying at the university. One of the successful project was The Judicial Independence and Legal Empowerment Project (JILEP), training organized by USAID and a contest in advocative skills for students. We took part in the contest as a team of university girls and we beat the teams of Ilia State University and Ivane Javakhishvili State University of Tbilisi, in the end we beat Free University in the final. These kinds of minor victories help me have emotional relations with my profession. I do love my profession and feel proud of what I do.

In terms of the State, independence and objectiveness of legislative organs have fundamental means. I think that the key to success of our country depends on the law court.

I feel pleased that my profession has great importance for my country. I plan to develop myself professionally in the future.
