Discussion about labour rights
A discussion will be held in Akaki Tsereteli State University, in the green hall On May 16, 2018, at 5 PM. The subject of the discussion will be: Why we demand right for safe work.
Right for safe work is one of the challenges of labour politics. Professional relations, self-organized labourers, public organizations and activist groups demand to defend safe labour rights from Political side. There have been labourer strikes and protests because of this problem in recent years.
Despite the fact that the state made some steps there is no important progress which would change the severe working conditions for employed people and decrease the number of people who were damaged and injured while working in several industrial companies. The number of injured and dead workers in 2016 was less than in 2017. In 2011-2017 there were 317 dead and 882 injured workers. Last year 11 employed people died in Tkibuli coal mines, on April 5, 6 employees died of severe incident in industrial company.
The speaker of the discussion will speak about labour safety and its politics and about the environment where employees do their duty.
Speaker: Lela Gvishiani – EMC – Human Rights Empowerment and Monitoring Center, lawyer of strategic jurisprudence.
